Decreased food prices
Hungary's agricultural producer prices rose by 7.9% year on year in April, falling from a growth of 8.9% in March, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) has reported.
Excluding fruits and vegetables, agricultural producer prices were up by 9.1%
yr/ry vs. +9.3% yr/yr in March. The January-April growth was 10.7% against
+11.4% in Mar.
Crop price inflation retreated to 14.3% in April from 17.0% in March. Animal
and animal product prices were up by 0.4% yr/yr after a 0.2% decline the
previous month.
The producer price of vegetables dropped
6.2% yr/yr in April, versus a rise of 0.9% in March, and fell 2.8% in the first
four months (vs. +2.8% in Q1).
The producer price of potatoes soared by 65.3% in April (vs. +66.5% in Mar).
Fruit price inflation came to 16.9% yr/yr (vs. +14.8% in Mar) and was 17.2% in
Jan-Apr, largely unchanged from the Q1 data.
