Cake of Hungary
The Guild of Hungarian Confectioners organised the Cake of Hungary contest for the 12th time, to celebrate national holiday 20 August in style. New and creative ideas were welcome by the guild, especially those that were likely to meet the taste of Hungarian cake eaters. From the 28 entries the jury selected the finalists at the Sirha Budapest trade show on 9 February. Six cakes qualified for the final – these were also exhibited in glass cabinets at the trade fair. Bergman confectionery from Balatonfüred and Jánoska from Komárom both sent two cakes to the final. Tóth Confectionery from Dunaföldvár and Vanília&Gelarto from Nagykőrös also competed in the final. The public will learn who the winner is in early August and people will have the chance to taste the Cake of Hungary on 20 August for the first time. //
