Expanding food production capacity: SPAR Hungary will spend approximately HUF 1.9 billion on the development of its plants in 2025
SPAR Hungary will expand its Regnum Meat Plants in Bicske and Perbál and its SPAR enjoy. convenience plant in Üllő with equipment that will significantly increase its production capacity this year. The company will allocate approximately HUF 1.9 billion for this purpose in 2025.
“SPAR Hungary is the only domestic retail chain to operate its own meat plants. The Regnum meat plant in Bicske, established in 2004, was expanded with a plant in Perbál in 2020, and in 2018 we established a plant producing convenience products in Üllő. These three strategic plants contribute greatly to providing the store network with high-quality, in-house-produced products made from raw materials that largely come from domestic suppliers. We have so far spent around HUF 20 billion on the development of the plants, of which HUF 1.9 billion was allocated for various technological equipment and investments in 2024. In 2025, we will allocate a further HUF 1.9 billion to achieve our development goals in Bicske, Perbál and Üllő. The focus of our developments this year is on the purchase of energy-saving equipment and new machines that increase production capacity,”
explained Márk Maczelka, CEO of SPAR Hungary. Head of Communications.
According to the company’s sales experience, peeled sausages are increasingly popular among customers. Therefore, the company will purchase a new peeling machine for the Regnum meat plant in Bicske in 2025, and the peeling room will also be expanded. This will increase the monthly production capacity of peeled sausages from 100 tons to 240 tons.
In the Perbál meat plant, SPAR will put a new hot water boiler into operation in the first half of this year, which is also suitable for producing technological and cleaning hot water. The new feature of the production line will be a new slicing and packaging line in 2025. The machine slices smoked cooked pork loin and ham, as well as salami, and its daily capacity reaches 3 tons for all products.
In the SPAR enjoy. convenience plant in Üllő, the auxiliary materials warehouse was expanded by more than 250 m2 by the end of last year. A new office, meeting room and social room have been created on the upper floor of the building. Due to increasing customer demand, the factory is expected to expand its production in the field of salad production in 2025: this could double the annual production capacity of 7-800 tons. In addition to the continuous development of convenience products and the increase in production capacity, manual labor is an essential part of the work processes. SPAR has achieved significant results by being able to close successful and smooth production days with minimal fluctuation. The company plans to increase the current number of 65 employees in the near future.
