The Balatoni Crown voucher has been introduced
Navracsics Tibor Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Public Administration placed the voucher that is replacing money on the market.
The Balatoni Crown is the first system, which operates with the majority participation of the local government. The issuer of the voucher is the Balatoni Korona Zrt. which was established by seven municipalities – Veszprém, Várpalota, Balatonfüred, Balatonalmádi, Litér, Tihany and Nemesvámos – together with the county Chamber of Industry and the Kinizsi Bank. The introduction of local currency aims to stimulate the economy in the region, and to provide additional sources of liquidity to the market participants. It is planned that within one and a half year, one can pay with Balatoni Crown in about three hundred locations. The bank calculates with one hundred millions HUF worth output. (MTI)
