Barilla Switches To 100% Italian Sustainable Wheat
Barilla has committed to the use of 100% Italian sustainable wheat, sourced from 13 different Italian regions, in its products.
The pasta maker has selected four exclusive varieties of durum wheat, featuring a high protein content (14% wheat and 13% semolina), high quality gluten, a golden-yellow colour and low ash content (mineral salts).
Also renewed is the packaging, which retains the iconic red logo but updates the colour of the boxes to bright blue, a colour synonymous with Italy.
Reflecting the group’s environmental responsibility, the packaging is now are made of virgin fibreboard sourced from responsibly-managed forests according to certified standards.
