To the last crumb

What a joy it is when we can return home with freshly baked, still hot, fragrant baked goods from the bakery! Or we can’t stand it and bite into it on the way. Whether it’s muffins, buns, cocoa snails or jam buns, everyone has a favorite.

Baked goods are part of our everyday life. It is also difficult to avoid it in the diet, because if we are in a hurry, but our eyes are already throbbing from hunger, a scone or the ever-favorite cocoa snail can serve you perfectly. Even if we only eat the middle. KMÉ is also looking for the best among baked goods. Soon there will also be excellent butter muffins and sweet/savory custard cakes made with butter.

Bakers differentiate their baked goods based on, among other things, their fat content

They can be made from watery, milky, enriched, egg, crumbly or puff pastry. In addition, today there are countless alternatives if you are a fan of baked goods, but less so for white flour. Spelled, graham, oatmeal, whole grains… the list is endless. Not for nothing, healthier versions are also needed, since bread and baked goods are part of Hungarian culture. Is it even possible to eat stew without dipping the bread in the juice? Has anyone ever celebrated Easter without a fluffy, buttery cake?

A nice, round, crispy bread can be a decoration of the table and a symbol of the home in itself

It symbolizes life and livelihood, which is expressed on the national holiday of August 20 with bread tied with a ribbon in the national color. Bread is the father of all baked goods. But the next day there is no trace of the experience. The sad, half-baked bread forgotten in the bag is no longer the real thing. And if we don’t eat it like this, unfortunately it will certainly end up in the trash. However, we only have to observe a few small things and we can already do more for our everyday baked goods. If you bring fresh, still warm baked goods home, be sure to take them out of the plastic bag, because moisture can easily mold them. Store it in a linen tea towel or linen bag. On the one hand, because it is more environmentally friendly than a nylon bag, on the other hand, the baked goods retain their freshness longer. However, make sure to always wash them with fragrance-free detergent, otherwise our buns can easily taste like a flowery meadow.

We can even use cloths and bags with beeswax, which are available specially for this purpose

Many people also store bread in the refrigerator, but this is not advisable, it is true that it does not spoil as quickly, but it can quickly lose its moisture content and the taste will not be the same. However, freezing is a good solution. Just make sure to put it in a perfectly resealable bag or container. When you want to eat it, just take it out of the freezer and let it thaw. Or put it in a preheated oven while still frozen, it will be as if it were baked then. And the non plus ultra is if we can make these at home, in our own kitchen, because even the neighbors will run over from the smell of fresh baked goods that wafts from OUR apartment.
