A EU report says that 11 percent of the protected Hungarian foods are falsified
10.8 percent of the geographical designation protected Hungarian food products proved to be false – according to a new report by the European Union Office of Intellectual Property (EUIPO).
In Hungary, the economic losses resulting from counterfeiting reached 16 billion HUF. At EU level a 4.3 billion euros damage (1371 billion HUF) was recorded from counterfeiting in 2014, while the consumers’ losses reached a further 2.3 billion euros (729 billion HUF) – the National Board Against Counterfeiting (NBAC) told MTI on Thursday.
