Inflation is at a 25-year high in the OECD
In the countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), consumer prices rose by 5.8 percent year-on-year in November, after an average of 5.2 percent in October, the highest growth rate in more than 25 years since May 1996. In November 2020, inflation was only 1.2 percent, the organization said.
The rise in energy prices in November has accelerated to a maximum of 27.7 percent since June 1980, after 24.3 percent in October. Food prices rose from 4.6 percent in October to 5.5 percent in November.
Core inflation excluding food and energy prices rose 0.3 percentage points to 3.8 percent in November in the OECD. (MTI)
