The Taste Leader
Our magazine asked editor Zsuzsa Gyimesi about the book commemorating László Jakabffy, which will be published by the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) in November. A member of MVI’s body of representatives and a Gundel Award winner, the chef died on 22 December 2017.

Ms Gyimesi told that the book, which is illustrated with lots of photos, pays tribute to a great man and his oeuvre. Hopefully the new generation will understand and adopt the values emphasised by Mr Jakabffy: doing hospitality in an honest way, maximum professionalism, sharing knowledge with the next generations, permanent renewal and enjoying life!
Recently the family has handed over László Jakabffy’s collection of cookbooks, which is now exhibited in the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism (MVKM). Meanwhile the late chef’s Facebook profile has been renamed The Taste Leader – anyone is welcome here, both from the trade and the non-hospitality world. //
