This year the sweet corn crop may be lower than average
Due to extreme weather this year, sweet corn production may fall slightly short of the 500,000 tonne average of the recent years, while purchase prices are rising – according to the experts of Syngenta the pesticide seed sales company.
From the start of sowing, many circumstances made the work of domestic producers more difficult. The dry spring had a negative effect on the first sowing, and the cooler-than-average weather in May also made scheduling and sowing more difficult – Pereczes János, manager of the company told. (MTI)
