The nationality ratio among foreign workers seems to be reorganizing
In the coming years, it is necessary to increase the number of employees by about 500,000 people, and for this the employment of foreign workers is essential – highlights Magdolna Mihályi, managing director of the Jobtain HR Service Provider.
In order to make the legal framework for the employment of guest workers in Hungary even more transparent and clear, the Government has before it a draft law which, taking into account the current rules and licensing discounts, will determine the conditions and criteria under which preferential employers can employ guest workers for the purpose of working for more than ninety days In Hungary. According to the expert, it is not expected that people from several countries will suddenly come to our country en masse from abroad, but the national composition will definitely change, as it is already being experienced. Based on the data of the KSH, in the second half of 2022 a minor reorganization took place with regard to the citizenships of foreigners working in our country. While the growth of the number of Ukrainian employees since the second quarter of 2021 has slowed down, so their share among foreign employees has decreased slightly, while the number of employees from some non-EU countries (e.g. the Philippines) has increased. A large number of foreign workers of Romanian and Slovak nationality are also included in the KSH’s statements.
“This picture can also be deceiving from the point of view that, according to our experience, Hungarians from Transylvania and Slovakia are more likely to be included in the statistics. We believe that Romanian citizens prefer to work in, for example, Italy and Spain. The wage level in Romania is similar to the Hungarian one, so working here is not more attractive for them”
says Magdolna Mihályi.
