Family farms play a key role in creating and maintaining rural jobs, as well as in preserving traditions and cultural heritage, said Minister of Agriculture Nagy István at the handover of the Szuhavölgyi Family Manufactory’s cheese factory in Szuhafő on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Dairy products account for almost a tenth of food production

The head of the ministry reminded that currently the vast majority of Hungarian agriculture is made up of small and medium-sized primary agricultural producers and family farmers. Their significance is indisputable, so supporting their operation is essential for the further development of Hungarian agriculture and the food industry, he added. Nagy István emphasized that the Hungarian agricultural policy is committed to the development of domestic milk production and milk processing, for which it will provide more resources than ever before this year, they wrote.
