Concerns over the “new GMO” regulations
Concerns are growing that the new food gene-editing (New Genomic Techniques or NGT) regulation in the European Union might be too lax.

More than 50 food and environmental organisations have teamed up to oppose EU proposals that would allow NGT foods to enter the market without going through the present burdensome GMO approval process. Some fear that NGT foods could circumnavigate GMO regulation. Opponents of the new regulation have gathered more than 420,000 signatures against deregulating what they call “new GMOs”. //
