Hospitality’s present and perspectives

László Kovács
president
MVI
László Kovács, president of the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) gave a presentation at BKIK’s conference about the present and the near future of the hospitality sector. He told that in April-May 2020 sales in workplace and commercial catering plunged by approximately 75 percent. Compared with Q1 2020, the number of employees in hospitality dropped from 192,000 to 142,000 by the first quarter of 2021.
The president believes that the biggest problem after the reopening of bars and restaurants is that there will be much fewer foreign tourists in 2021 than before, there aren’t enough qualified workers, and that there will be fewer corporate events and conferences. //
