In the period of the new Common Agricultural Policy (KAP) until 2027, agriculture will receive three times as much resources as before, part of which must be used for soil improvement and protection – said the Ministry of Agriculture’s (AM) deputy state secretary responsible for agriculture in Hódmezővásárhely, at the Soil Wandering Assembly according to a statement on Thursday.

According to the announcement, at the conference organized by the Hungarian Soil Science Society and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Szeged, Anikó Juhász gave a presentation on the KAP defining the next five years of agriculture, the Strategic Plan containing its details, the growing green expectations and commitments related to soil protection. He spoke about the changes to which farming will have to be adapted in the future, which will determine the conditions for the use of agricultural subsidies – they wrote in the statement sent to MTI.

In the next 5 years, farmers can apply for support in several areas

The deputy state secretary spoke primarily about the measures that farmers should be aware of in connection with their fall production decisions and next year’s spring subsidy application. In the next five-year cycle, an even wider range of subsidies to encourage soil-friendly farming will be available than at present, starting with the expansion of eligible areas, through the new agroecological program, to investment and maintenance support for agroecological areas.

Anikó Juhász reminded us that during the summer months press releases were constantly published to help producers prepare for the new support period and conditions. He called it important that the representatives of the soil science profession get to know them, since both farmers and policy-makers count on the scientific and expert base of the Soil Science Society – read the ministry’s statement.
