We will keep our promises to the region that provides the backbone of the Hungarian nation, and we will launch unprecedented developments. All players in the sector know that “it’s now or never”, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the ceremony organized on the occasion of March 15, 1848 in the Hungarian Agricultural Museum.

In connection with the national holiday, he highlighted that the youth of March, the first responsible Hungarian government, Kossuth and Széchenyi, then the martyred generals, the unsung heroes of freedom all set this goal on their banner: to create Hungary. The message of 1848 is still alive today, 175 years later, and we are still living in extraordinary times. In the past period, agriculture faced several serious challenges. At the same time, during the support period of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy until 2027, there are so many resources available to agriculture and the food industry that, in addition to difficulties on a historic scale, the opportunities are also historic. Everyone feels that our responsibility is also historical, István Nagy pointed out. He added that alongside productive and self-sufficient agriculture, the Hungarian food industry, destroyed by privatization in previous decades, will be resurrected. The goal is a food industry that can stand its ground on the world market, and through which the Hungarian people can choose their home country instead of the food that is bombarded from abroad.

The head of the department greeted the outstanding performers in the field of agriculture

He emphasized that the leaven of success in agriculture is cooperation between sector actors. Unity appears among the awardees: no matter where they come from, no matter what field of expertise they work in, their work points in one direction, which is to strengthen and elevate the sectors and fields of expertise belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture. In difficult times, there is a particular need for those who set an example even in the midst of trials by trying to get the best out of themselves and the assets entrusted to them, reminded István Nagy.
