Print media is growing with the expansion of the media cake
In 2019 the size of the so-called media cake was HUF 245.08 billion, while the communication cake – which includes the media cake too – was HUF 467.96 billion big; the latter got 9.73 percent bigger last year. Digital media has a 41.45-percent slice of the cake, followed by television at 26.55 percent and print media with a 16.83-percent share. The advertising revenue of newspapers and magazines grew again and represented a value of HUF 41.237 billion.
Tibor Kovács, president of the Hungarian Publishers’ Association (MLE) told that consumers trust print media more than other media, including online news sources and social media platforms. The Hungarian Advertising Association (MRSZ) forecasts that 2020 will bring a dramatic decline in the media and communication market, on average a minus 38 percent performance is expected. //
