All of Lidl’s own stores have received the EDGE green building certification
Lidl Hungary, which turns 20 this year, continues to consider it a priority task to develop operational processes as sustainable as possible as a responsible store chain, focusing, among other things, on mitigating the environmental impact of its stores. One of the important results of the company’s efforts is that all of its own stores opened by the end of the 2023 business year have EDGE green building certification.
As a responsible company, Lidl Hungary is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations. The responsible design of the infrastructure, buildings and operational processes, raising the awareness of employees are factors that the company has a direct influence on, and can thereby contribute to the development of more environmentally conscious operations. The discount chain strives for the most sustainable use of energy in accordance with energy efficiency objectives. In addition, Lidl has also set itself the goal of continuously expanding the number of stores with sustainable certification in the properties belonging to its own portfolio, and to this end, it launched the EDGE certification of its own stores in 2023.
“As the market-leading food retail store chain in Hungary, our goal is to be at the forefront of more sustainable operations. Last year, we started the green building certification of our own stores, which is why we are especially proud to be able to say that all Lidl stores opened by the end of the 2023 business year already have EDGE certification. What’s more, 31 of them have the EDGE ADVANCE certification.”
– said Judit Tőzsér, head of corporate communications at Lidl Hungary.
