Magazine: The latest trends will also be introduced
SIAL Paris, one of the world’s biggest food and innovation trade shows, will take place between 21 and 25 October 2018. Our magazine interviewed SIAL’s head of marketing and communication, Nelly Baron.
T.M.: – What new things is SIAL Paris offering to exhibitors and visitors this year?
– The 2018 edition of the show will present a new sector – Alternative Food – with a dedicated forum, more than 300 exhibitors and guided tours. Moreover, a brand new event called Future Lab, featuring a number of innovative startups and a Virtual Reality Lab, will help visitors discover the food trends of tomorrow.
T.M.: – What are the latest trends in the food industry and how will these be presented at the trade show?
– The food sector is facing major changes, with higher expectations and more engagement from all parties towards simpler, healthier and better food. At SIAL Paris the new Alter’Native food sector will be booming in 2018. All trends and innovative products will be presented in the SIAL Innovation area in Hall 6.
T.M.: – Which areas of the food industry and countries will exhibitors be coming from? Can you give us some numbers about the expected turnout?
– We are expecting 7,200 exhibitors from more than 109 countries (85 percent from outside of France), and 21 sectors will be represented. In terms of attendance, we are expecting 160,000 visitors from 194 countries.
T.M.: – How many Hungarian exhibitors will be there? Which segments of the food industry will they be representing?
– As of today, we have 2 Hungarian pavilions representing 25 exhibiting companies. On top of that, a dozen of individual exhibitors have also subscribed. The Hungarian exhibitors will cover various segments such as Frozen Products, Dairy Products, Poultry, Biscuits and Pastry, Confectionery, Grocery and Gourmet, or Alternative Food.
T.M.: – What kind of advantages does SIAL Paris offer to exhibitors and visitors?
– In 2016 9 visitors out of 10 were acknowledging the wide diversity of products proposed by our exhibitors, and 60% of our exhibitors declared to have made 6 months additional turnover thanks to the show. We have set up a Matchmaking platform that will help our clients connect and plan their meetings prior to the event. (x)
