A third of workers left companies last year
This is a slight increase compared to the fluctuation data of a year earlier. The emigration of white-collar workers rose to a historic level, at 19 percent. Fluctuation decreased only in the field of trade, while it increased in the fields of service and production as well – according to HR-Evolution Kft.’s nationwide fluctuation research. According to the expert, the main reason for the worsening turnover data is that the potential labor reserve is decreasing year by year, and companies are finding it increasingly difficult to find workers.
Despite the economic difficulties, turnover in companies did not decrease, the average level of emigration was 33 percent last year, one percentage point higher than a year earlier. 190 companies employing a total of 167,000 people participated in the fifth nationwide survey.
“A contradictory situation has developed on the labor market. Economic difficulties, prices, inflation, and the rise in energy prices both curb and increase fluctuation. The employees’ intention to change has weakened because they are afraid of their jobs, on the one hand, they don’t know what will happen. On the other hand, the stressful problem of making a living or the struggle to maintain the standard of living made many people open to changing jobs in the hope of higher income”
– explains turnover management expert Katalin Csikós-Nagy, managing director of HR-Evolution Kft.
