Wheat becomes life
Without the establishment of the sovereign, Christian Hungarian state founded by Saint István, today we would not be able to provide help to farmers in the organized way they expect – stated Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the wheat collection and bread festival of the Magyarok Kenyere Program in Győr Moson-Sopron county on Friday in Csorna.

The head of the ministry reminded that the Bread of Hungarians Program has grown into a kind of new national holiday in more than a decade: a grassroots celebration of selfless helpfulness and national unity. It is a fine example of how Hungarians have an unbroken sense of belonging, he added. István Nagy said that effective management is also important because only those who have something to give can help others. Of course, this is only a necessary condition for charity, since without the good will, which is manifested on the part of the farmers in the Hungarian Bread Program, our results would remain meager numbers.
Despite the challenges, the country’s bread is guaranteed this year as well
The minister explained that the harvest data of the Győr-Moson-Sopron county show that autumn barley was harvested on a total of almost 26,000 hectares with an average of 5.3 tons. Regarding winter wheat, the harvest was completed on almost 56,000 hectares, with a yield of 5.8 tons per hectare. Regarding rye, the work was completed on a total of 3,385 hectares, with a result of 5.2 tons – listed the head of the ministry. At the event, István Nagy thanked the farmers for the work done, the donations and the new bread.
