Brunch is becoming increasingly popular in Hungary
In recent years, brunch, i.e. a relaxed, enjoyable meal between breakfast and lunch, has gained more and more popularity in Hungary, especially in big cities. Weekend brunching has already become a trend in Budapest and some rural towns, which is often a longer meal accompanied by champagne or prosecco. Although more and more restaurants in the capital offer brunch menus, this culture is even less widespread in the countryside – we learn from the Pénzcentrum article, which collected the most popular brunch places.

The Dining Guide TOP100 Restaurant Guide has collected the best Hungarian brunch places, which await guests with quality ingredients and a varied offer.
- Morzsa (Pécs): Shokunin-style gastronomic workshop, where, for example, bread with butter costs HUF 1,050, scrambled eggs HUF 3,450, and a three-course tasting menu HUF 8,500.
- Baltázár (Budapest): Breakfast options include croissants and jam for HUF 3,280, Ham & Eggs for HUF 2,860, and eggs benedict for HUF 3,680.

Villa Bagatelle (Budapest): Eggs Bagatelle for HUF 4,290, avocado toast for HUF 3,990.
While brunching is becoming more and more common in Budapest, the development of restaurant culture is slower in the countryside. Rural restaurants still have to adapt to new trends and more sustainable business models. Despite this, outstanding brunch options can already be found in some rural locations, such as Pécs or Esztergom.
The brunch culture in Hungary is therefore gaining more and more space, especially in the capital, but rural restaurants still have a long way to go.
