BKIK is putting together a package of recommendations on the management of repo loans
The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) is putting together a professional self-regulatory package of recommendations for catering businesses to avoid mistakes related to the return of strong-walled reusable glasses (repo glasses) used at events, the public body told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the information, based on the results of the consumer survey and discussions with market players, the package of professional recommendations will be drawn up by the beginning of April to help the hospitality industry enterprises to self-regulate in a consumer-friendly manner. In the announcement, it is recalled that a working group was formed in the chamber last year with the aim of finding a self-regulating market solution to the irregularities related to the redemption of the repo. As part of this, users’ needs were assessed at the end of 2022, and the online survey questionnaire was filled out by more than 4,000 people in one month.
According to the survey, the biggest problem for users is the untraceability of redemption options
The guests mostly want to exchange their glasses for money, but they would also consider a repo-glass machine a good idea. The least popular idea was to leave on-site but free repo.
