Dreher Breweries is developing its production capacity with a HUF 7 billion investment
After previous investments in energy efficiency, Asahi’s parent company and regional headquarters are continuing to develop the Dreher quarry factory with HUF 7 billion. With the construction of the new production hall and modern laboratory, as well as the commissioning of one of today’s most modern production lines, the production capacity of beer in aluminum cans will be increased by 120 percent, thus creating an opportunity even for export. With this development, the company is also getting closer to its sustainability targets regarding the specific carbon footprint of the products.
The new aluminum can production line enables Dreher to maintain its ambitious plans for its alcohol-free portfolio. The unit and its new quality assurance lab were completed using the latest technology, and the engineers will be able to detect and correct any malfunctions in real time, even with remote access. The development was carried out by the company without EU or state financial support, on its own, based on the decision of the Government of Hungary, as an investment of special importance from the point of view of the national economy.
Dreher expects less specific energy consumption from the investment, as well as a reduction in the carbon footprint of production. In addition, the new line will be able to handle packaging material from renewable sources and produce multipacks packed purely in cardboard, completely avoiding plastic packaging.
“The essence of our Dreher-to-Dreher philosophy is that, faithful to the traditions of our founders, we are constantly looking for opportunities for development and renewal. In this way, we can ensure that one of Hungary’s oldest companies can continue to operate successfully in the future and make its products without compromises. After thorough planning work, we received the approval of our owner, Asahi Group Holding and Asahi Europe & International, for the 18.5 million euro investment in the summer of 2021. At the beginning of 2022, we ordered the machine line that will raise production to a new level, and after rigorous laboratory tests, we expect to be able to use the unit at full capacity this summer.”
– said Gábor Békefi, CEO of Dreher Breweries.
