The number of employed people was 4 million 749 thousand, the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent
In May 2024, the average number of employed persons aged 15-74 increased by 36,000 compared to the same period of the previous year, to 4,749,000. The number of unemployed people was 212,000, the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
In the three-month period from March to May, the average number of employed persons among the 15-74-year-olds was 4 million 745 thousand, 41 thousand more than a year earlier. The number of employed men did not change at 2,496,000, while the number of women employed increased by 41,000 to 2,249,000.
4,576,000 people worked in the domestic primary labor market, 42,000 more than a year earlier. While the number of people working abroad increased to a lesser extent (within the margin of error) to 108,000, the number of public employees decreased by 8,000 to 61,000.
Among the 15-64-year-olds, the employment rate increased by 0.6 percentage points to 75.1 percent. The rate for men remained essentially unchanged at 78.8 percent, while for women it rose by 1.2 percentage points to 71.4 percent.
