Tesco modified the recipes of 300 own brand products to make them healthier
According to Tesco-Global Zrt.’s CEO Zsolt Pálinkás, Tesco is dedicated to helping shoppers live a healthier life. Tesco is modifying the composition of their own brand products or replacing them with healthier alternatives – without compromise on taste or quality. The retailer wants customers to see that they continue developing, so that shoppers can choose from a healthier and more sustainable, but at the same time affordable and tasty selection of products.
The recipe of health
In the last few months Tesco changed the recipes of more than 300 own brand products in the most important product groups, for instance by cutting their sugar, fat and salt content. At the same time the company is also busy increasing the fruit, vegetable and fibre content of own brand products. Tesco’s own brand products have no hydrogenated fats or mechanically separated meat anymore.
Only the best can stay
Product innovation is a complex process and Tesco’s food engineers carefully select the best ingredients for own brand products, preferring natural ingredients and not allowing the use of artificial additives. Tesco was also the first to join the European Union’s code of conduct on sustainable food business and marketing practices. (x)
