Consumer prices rose by 1.9 percent in June
Consumer prices were on average 1.9 percent higher in June than a year before. Compared to May, prices did not change – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday. The agency registered this year’s lowest inflation rate.
Annual core inflation rose to 2.4 percent in June, from the 2.1 percent of a month before.
Over the same year, tobacco and food prices grew more strongly by 7.0 percent and 3.1 percent.
The price of tobacco products was affected by the rise in excise duty. The price of pork and sugar has increased significantly in the food sector, but the effect of the reduction in VAT at the beginning of the year can be detected in case of poultry meat – Mináry Borbála, Head of Department at KSH said. She added that the price of vehicle fuels decreased slightly. (MTI)
