We throw away 150,000 tons of food in the domestic hospitality industry – this can be significantly reduced from now on
In Hungary, we throw away 1.8 million tons of food every year, this amount packed on a truck would mean that it would be the turn from Budapest to Paris. Half of mankind’s environmental load is related to food, so it is particularly important how we produce it and what we do with the excess. In connection with Earth Day, one exemplary advertising agency made a commitment.
A significant part of food waste can be avoided: education and organization are necessary, in which the topic has now received serious support, so that as much as possible of the 150,000 tons of food thrown away in the hospitality industry can be saved.
The sustainability program of the Progressive advertising agency is GREENHUB, in the framework of which they connect important actors and establish collaborations with those with whom they can develop sustainable solutions. Their partners are WWF and the Food Bank. According to managing partner Tibor Hodik, “we also act as a catalyst, since the solutions developed or brought to the surface here have an impact not only on us, but also on the entire market”.
