Things you did not know about the world’s fish production
Since the 1990s, the number of wild fish caught has remained virtually unchanged, while fish consumption is constantly growing – agrarszektor.hu wrote. This can only be achieved with the increase in the proportion of fish grown, which in turn creates at least as many sustainability problems as fishing itself.
Global fish production will continue to grow in the next decade, despite the fact that the previous explosive growth of farmed stock decelerates and the fishery of wild fish seems to be leveling – according to the new FAO report of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. According to the organization, by 2030, the total fisheries and aquaculture output will increase to 201 million tonnes, which will be a 18 percent increase, compared to the current production level of 171 million tonnes.
