Calls for tenders supporting the development of irrigation for producers can be commented on

The social negotiation of new calls for tenders aimed at supporting investments in irrigation development and water use efficiency improvement within agricultural farms has begun, and anyone can express their opinion on them until August 16, 2024. The call is announced based on the Strategic Plan of Hungary’s Common Agrarian Policy.

The Ministry of Agriculture treats the development of irrigated agriculture as a priority area, the goal is that as many farmers as possible decide to implement investments that establish safe production. The support schemes that can now be commented on offer agricultural producers the opportunity to apply, including the introduction of water-saving irrigation technologies, the optimization of water use in irrigation systems, the modernization, expansion and reconstruction of water-saving irrigation infrastructure and related artefacts, as well as the creation of new irrigation water supply works and systems. regarding.

It is a novelty that, as in several other agricultural areas, two separate calls will be available for larger, complex projects and smaller-scale irrigation development investments by smaller farmers. It is important that the content of the calls has changed in several respects compared to the previous regulations of the Rural Development Program, taking into account the EU rules that have changed in the meantime, as well as some regulations imposed by the European Commission as a condition for the adoption of the Hungarian Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan.

The calls for tenders were prepared in the framework of extensive professional consultation, and now anyone can express their opinion on the draft calls for tenders entitled “Support for complex investments within agricultural holdings improving irrigation development and water use efficiency” and “Support for investments within agricultural holdings improving irrigation development and water use efficiency”.
