A tour of fairs around the world

Grüne Woche 15-24 January 2010, Berlin: Economic recession decreased the importance of trade fairs in Hungary. Those who decide to stay away from these events give way to their competitors. Hungary will be a partner country at the next Internationale Grüne Woche. 56 countries will send 1,600 exhibitors to the 115,000-m² fair where one of the accompanying events will be the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA). During the fair AMC will launch a promotion campaign in Kaufhof stores. • FRUIT LOGISTICA 3-5 February 2010, Berlin: The 18th fruit and vegetable fair will host 2,200 exhibitors from 80 countries. 50,000 visitors are expected and side events will include the 29th Fresh Forum and FRESHCONEX, a trade fair for fresh fruit and vegetable convenience products and their production technology. • BioFach 17-20 February 2010, Nürnberg: The 21st world fair of organic products focuses on fair trade this year. 2,700 exhibitors from 130 countries will present their products and services to 46,000 visitors. Accompanying event: Vivaness 2010, a fair for natural cosmetics and wellness products. • FOODAPEST 2010. 21-24 February, Budapest: International food, beverage and food industry machinery trade exhibition that has been modernised and packed with several accompanying events such as UKBA, Confectioners’ Junior World Championship and the final of Bocuse d’Or Hungary. This year the focus is on food safety and conscious consumers. • SALIMA, MBK, INTECO, VINEX, EMBAX 2-5 March 2010, Brno: Food, beverage, vegetable, fruit, a modern diet and packaging technology are in focus at this international trade fair, hosting 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries on 23,000 m² and awaiting 40,000 visitors. • Alimentaria 2010. 22-26 March, Barcelona: Held every even year, this 131,000-m² food and beverage trade exhibition welcomes 5,000 participants from 70 countries to the delight of 160,000 visitors. The focus is on internationality, brand values and R&D. • Marketing at Retail Show 30 March-1 April 2010, Paris: Held every two years by Reed Expositions France and POPAI France, this is a POP trade gathering where organisers offer comprehensive, cross-sectoral solutions. Accompanying events include POPAI’s international POP, digital and store furnishing competition and award ceremony, and several conferences. • PLMA 18-19 May 2010, Amsterdam: An international fair for private label products that helps retailers and producers to find each other and launch successful private label programmes. More than 3,200 exhibitors, 39 national and regional pavilions, separate food and non-food areas and seminars. • SIAL China 19-21 May 2010, Shanghai: The 11th Asian food, beverage and catering exhibition invites 30,000 visitors to the stands of 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries. It is a golden opportunity to establish business relations in Asia. Accompanying events: the 6th Trend and Innovation Contest, the Wine Innovation Forum and Best Buy China. An added value: the 2010 World Fair in Shanghai that attracts 70 million visitors will take place at the same time. • Riga Food 2010. 8-11 September, Riga: A prestigious food, beverage, technology, packaging, catering and hotel trade fair in the Baltic region that is perfect to meet distributors and build new business relations. The 15th fair is going to be even more professional and more exhibitor- and visitor-oriented. • InterMopro, InterCool, InterMeat, Hogatec 2010. 12-15 September, Düsseldorf: International dairy product fair where CSR and Gourmet Plaza are also on the menu. InterCool (frozen food), InterMeat (meat and meat products) and Hogatec (hotel, gastronomy, office catering) are some of the accompanying events. Last time there were 65,000 visitors from 75 countries. • Signexpo, Digitalexpo 2010. 15-17 September, Budapest: Both fairs are top events in Hungary: advertising decoration and printing experts, media and print buyers and end users come to see what is new in the world of visual communication. Not only visual communication experts are welcome, but also business gift distributors, advertising agencies or packaging companies. A product contest will be part of the programme, together with a Media Fiesta and experts’ meetings. SYMA Event Centre will host the 3-day expo. • SIAL 2010. 17-21 October, Paris: The biggest international fair in the food industry. 215,000 m² of exhibiting floor space will host 5,500 participants from 104 countries, pleasing 150,000 visitors. IN-FOOD and IPA have been integrated into the programme so we dare says that the complete food spectrum will be represented. All three events concentrate on innovation. • BRAU Beviale 2010. 10-20 November, Nürnberg: The 49th beverage production trade fair, with base material-technology-logistics-marketing in the limelight. 81,000 m² of floor space, 1,300 exhibitors and 34,000 visitors.
