Varga Mihály: special taxes do not conflict with the EU law
According to the Hungarian position, the food chain management fee or the health care contribution on tobacco products, do not conflict with the EU rules – Varga Mihály, Minister of National Economy told M1 news channel.
The European Commission is studying the laws, and prohibited the use of progressive rates until the investigation will be closed. Varga Mihály, Minister of National Economy explained that the suspension will cause an of approximately 35-40 billion HUF loss to the budget, but the government plans to consult with the European Commission in the case.
Varga Mihály added that the measures that have previously gone through the same procedures finally received a “green light”. (MTI)
