Remains of spice from exotic, remote lands to the land of Israel were discovered in an excavation zone called the City of David in Jerusalem. With a scientific analysis of the tile remains of 6th-century BC amphorae fragments dating back to pre-Babylonian captivity.
Ajala Amir, a doctoral student at the Department of Archeology and Ancient Middle Eastern Cultures at the University of Tel Aviv, led a study combining the disciplines of chemistry and archeology with the laboratories of the Weizmann Institute and Bar-Ilan University. (Shiri Zsuzsa, MTI)
