Changes at Nébih
As a result of the recent structural changes at the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), head of department Anna Zoltai – she was dealing with the hospitality sector – was replaced by Dávid Tóth. Our magazine asked Dr György Pleva, director of the Food and Animal Feed Safety Directorate at NÉBIH about the changes.

– Some of those were people were laid off indeed, but this step has had no effect on the work of the hospitality department: they do their job at the usual high level as before. This Nébih department continues work in the spirit of Anna Zoltai, who did an excellent job there. – Food chain supervision authorities always do their work in line with the regulation in force. Since the latter hasn’t changed, the division of this type of work will also stay the same. – There were more than 300 such calls and more than half of these concerned selling condition issues (e.g. hygiene problems). In the future – just like in the past – experts will start investigating problems reported this way within 48 hours. – In many nice and clean bars and restaurants there were crowded kitchens and storage rooms with bad conditions. There were also problems with the personal hygiene of workers. Often the cooking ingredients were impossible to trace back to their sources. //
