EU research center: almost half of the EU territory is threatened by drought
46 percent of the territory of the EU, mainly the southwestern parts of Europe, is threatened by drought – drew attention to the report published by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission on Monday.
According to the document, the drought that has been affecting several European regions since the beginning of the year is spreading and worsening. The lack of precipitation has an impact on the water flow of rivers, and the amount of stored water has also decreased, which has had a negative impact on the energy sector. (Andits Eszter, MTI)
