Pork prices are lowering again
The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and meat products. Their last report reveals that the production price of domestically bred pig fell on the 36th week, after three months of stagnation. The volume of cut poultry purchased from farmers on weeks 1-36 increased by 10 percent – the production price was 3.5 percent lower than a year ago. Domestic poultry meat sales improved by 18.5 percent by the second week of September. The volume of cut turkey purchased from farmers on weeks 1-36 decreased by 3 percent and production prices were 2 percent lower than a year earlier. This year domestic turkey sales plummeted by 10 percent by the second week of September.
