VAT regulations revisited
Károly Zerényi, advisor to the president of the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) has recently spoken to penzcentrum.hu about the VAT rates applicable to the hospitality industry.
This article is available for reading in Trade magazin 2025/6-7.

Károly Zerényi
advisor to the president
MVI
He told our magazine that MVI has been calling for the amendment and simplification of VAT regulations for a long time, e.g. confectioners are forced to work with three VAT rates. MVI has long taken the position that – just like in several other EU countries (e.g. Finland, the Netherlands, Romania and Sweden) – a 5% reduced VAT rate should apply to all segments of the hospitality industry.
