Tesco's new style in UK: Multi-level Town Centre Store
The company plans to sell food, televisions, clothing, homewares and toys over two or three floors as its rivals Debenhams, Marks&Spencer do.
Tesco plans to build department store-style shops for its fast growing non-food business, the first store was planned for an existing site in High Wycombe, west of London, and the group is looking for other large sites in the middle of towns. The new city centre stores would pile even more pressure on the electrical, clothing and health and beauty chains it already competes with. It is the latest salvo in Tesco's attempts to win even more market share from rivals, in spite of already taking nearly £1 in every £7 spent in the nation's shops
