Pet food manufacturer Fressnapf is establishing a new service center in Budapest
The German Fressnapf, Europe’s largest manufacturer of pet food and equipment, will establish its service center employing 150 workers in Budapest – announced Levente Magyar, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) on Monday in Budapest.
Fressnapf creates another important added value in one of the fastest growing Hungarian industries in recent years; more than 70,000 people already work in domestic service centers, mainly young graduates who speak languages, who represent an important guarantee of the country’s growth – stressed Levente Magyar. The state secretary pointed out that despite the difficulties of recent years, the Hungarian economy has recovered, and in the second quarter, Hungary had one of the fastest economic developments in Europe. He said: “we live in extraordinary circumstances, domestic companies also have to survive in extraordinary times”. At the same time, there are regular impulses that confirm that the Hungarian economy is on the right track, that Hungary has such potential that it is worth coming here from abroad, and this gives cause for confidence, he explained. He added: it is such a confirmation that Fressnapf is setting up the service center in Budapest, providing 150 new jobs, and has further plans in Hungary.
The company needs highly qualified employees
Patrick Bontenakels, Fressnapf’s regional operational manager, said, among other things, at the announcement of the investment: From Budapest, they will investigate how they can continue to expand in Central and Eastern Europe, and they also see a serious opportunity in online expansion in Southern Europe. According to Fressnapf’s website, the company has been present in Hungary since 2002, in addition to its more than 50 stores, it also operates an online store. Based on publicly available company data, the net sales revenue of Fressnapf-Hungária Állateled és Efsremözling Nagy- és Kiskereskedelmi Kft. was 26.3 billion forints in 2021 after 21.7 billion forints in the previous year, and the profit after tax increased to 1.55 billion forints last year from 1.07 billion in 2020; the number of employees is close to 400.
