The issue of mental health in the workplace is an increasingly challenging one for companies, as while it fundamentally determines the performance of the organization, the increasingly important Generation Z in the labor market is already placing serious expectations on companies in this area. Stress is an everyday phenomenon for two-thirds of domestic workers, which often does not subside even on rest days, and around 50% of employees worldwide struggle with rapidly spreading burnout, which can also cause broader health symptoms. Recognizing the social significance of the problem, three domestic companies have joined forces to create a digital solution called Health check, which comprehensively examines the mental and physical state of employees in order to provide valuable feedback for both employees and companies.

In the European Union, an average of 136 billion euros and in Hungary, approximately 440 billion forints are lost annually due to unmanaged or improperly managed workplace stress, which is responsible for approximately 50-60% of lost working days. Meanwhile, employees also feel the problem is becoming more and more significant, and they mostly struggle with it alone: 4 out of 10 employees believe that the psychosocial risks associated with increased stress are not effectively remedied within the given organization. The Health check application, which was integrated into the employer communication system of the Budapest-based startup CHEQ, and its professional partner is Pro Health Consulting Group and Minder, which specializes in workplace psychology, provides an innovative answer to this challenge.

“Today, there is no question to what extent the mental state of employees supports or hinders the everyday life of companies, the quality of task performance or specifically productivity. In the digital world, companies need to be given tools that can help them more effectively recognize and manage problems related to the mental health of their employees”

– said Zsófia Logemann-Molnár, the founding psychologist of MINDER. The application creates a “heat map” of the organization based on anonymous feedback, so company managers and HR professionals can quickly recognize where intervention is needed. Based on the results, workplace processes and targeted health-preserving programs can also be redesigned – and these contribute to increasing employee engagement and overcoming turnover as direct, concrete business benefits.
