Nébih helps households with a menu planning publication to combat waste with a more conscious kitchen
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih)’s Without Leftovers program has published a new publication focusing on sustainable eating and waste-free cooking. Interested parties can also attend a free online lecture, where they can learn more and discuss their questions with Nébih experts. On the occasion of the publication, the office is also hosting a social media game for residents committed to preventing waste.
Food waste is a serious challenge from an environmental, economic and social perspective: in Hungarian households, an average of 62 kg of food ends up in the trash per person per year, a significant part of which could be prevented. The largest share of the food waste generated is wasted ready-made meals, with an annual amount of 11.8 kg/person/year. The aim of the Menu Planning Without Leftovers publication is to approach this problem from the perspective of kitchen practices – offering simple, yet effective solutions for everyone.
