Trenkwalder: the average hourly wage of manual workers reached 2,250 forints in the first quarter of this year
The average gross hourly wage of skilled and trained workers performing manual labor was 2,250 forints in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 9.1 percent compared to the 2,061 forints measured in the same period of the previous year, Trenkwalder and Moore Hungary told MTI on Tuesday.
Trenkwalder, which deals with labor leasing and mediation, processed the wage data of almost 7,000 employees.
Based on the geographical breakdown, it turned out that in the first months of 2025, the average manual hourly wage was well above 2,000 forints in most regions: typically in the range of 2,100-2,400 forints, and in Central Hungary and the capital it slightly exceeded 3,000 forints. In Northern Hungary, the average manual hourly wage was around 1,850 forints.
The statement quoted Viktor Hamrák, service director at Trenkwalder, as saying that although the 9 percent annual wage growth rate experienced in the first quarter is lower than the 14 percent seen in the previous year, manual workers can still expect a real wage increase of around 4 percent.
At the same time, the consulting and auditing firm Moore Hungary examined the wage data of almost 500 middle managers working at the Hungarian subsidiaries of more than 60 international companies. For employees working in the monthly gross salary range between HUF 800,000 and HUF 1.2 million, the wage increase rate was 7.4 percent on average in the first three months of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Péter Hajnal, managing partner at Moore Hungary, noted in the statement that although the wage increase rate of white-collar middle managers remained a few percentage points below that of manual workers, a small increase in real wages remained in their case.
