The Hungarian labor market remains stable
The Hungarian labor market remains stable, employment is high and unemployment is low – said the State Secretary for Employment Policy of the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) on Thursday on the current channel M1 and in the program titled Good morning, Hungary! on Kossuth radio.
Sándor Czomba highlighted that based on the data, Hungary is in a particularly favorable eighth-ninth place in the European Union, while in 2010 it started from the bottom of the EU ranking.
In terms of the number of registered job seekers, September’s data is the second best since the change of regime, with around 220 thousand people in the labor register – the State Secretary explained. He added, however, that there are significant regional differences, with unemployment at 1.2 percent in Győr-Moson-Sopron County and 8.2 percent in Nógrád County, which is in the worst situation, but this was over 20 percent 15 years ago.
40 percent of registered job seekers can find a job within three months. Those who have been on the register for years are not in a condition to take up a job quickly due to health, mental or family problems, they can be helped to find work through a longer process – explained Sándor Czomba.
He also highlighted that according to the data, there are 60-70 thousand vacant positions in Hungary, but not where the workforce is available, which indicates domestic mobility problems.
