Sunflower seed prices continue to rise

According to Stratégie Grains, spot sunflower seeds in Argentina were traded at a price level of $10 higher, at $455/ton (FOB Buenos Aires), between July 11 and August 15. In Saint-Nazaire, France, the OcAdd Newtober-December export price (FOB) of the crop was available at $555/ton (+$35), and in Bordeaux at $543/ton (+$21).

At the same time, spot sunflower seed export prices in Bulgaria fell by $7 to $541/ton (FOB). In the Netherlands, sunflower seeds were traded at $560/ton (+$10, CIF Amsterdam) in mid-August. According to the European Commission, the price of sunflower seeds (FOB) in Bordeaux, France, was 634–682 dollars/ton, and in Ukraine 485 dollars/ton between August 6 and September 17. According to AKI PÁIR data, processors and traders bought high oleic sunflower seeds (HO) for 217.5 thousand forints/ton (+28 percent), and high oil content (LO) for 192.5 thousand forints/ton (+24 percent) in the second week of September. The average producer price of industrial sunflower seeds (including high oleic sunflower seeds) excluding VAT and transport costs was 204.2 thousand forints/ton (+28 percent).
