Sunflower prices remain high
Oil World experts expect a global sunflower seed harvest of 53.9 million tonnes in the 2024/2025 marketing year, down 9 percent from 2023/2024. Russia’s harvest was 9 percent (16.9 million tonnes) and Ukraine’s was 16 percent (12.5 million tonnes).

In the European Union, output fell 12 percent to 8.7 million tonnes. Argentina expects a 9 percent increase in harvest (4.1 million tonnes). Global consumption is expected to be 55.6 million tonnes, with a carrying stock of 2.8 million tonnes. According to AKI PÁIR data, processors and traders purchased high oleic sunflower seeds (HO) at a price of 244.7 thousand forints/ton (+77 percent), and high oil content (LO) at a price of 210.6 thousand forints/ton (+69 percent) in December. The average producer price of industrial sunflower seeds (including high oleic sunflower seeds) excluding VAT and transport costs was 215.5 thousand forints/ton (+65 percent).
