The government is extending the margin reduction to additional products
The Ministry of National Economy, in response to the October inflation data of the Central Statistical Office, announced that it will extend the margin reduction for food products until February 28, 2026, and will extend it to 14 additional products from December 1.
The newly affected categories include pork liver cream, cream cheese, apples, pears and plums.
According to the ministry, as a result of the previous measures, an average price reduction of 20 percent was achieved in food stores and 27 percent in drugstores in the affected product groups.
The NGM reminded also that the balance of SZÉP cards will again be able to be used to purchase cold food between December 1, 2025 and April 30, 2026, in order to stimulate consumption and reduce the burden on households.
