The head of the ministry reminded that during the consultation with Minister Otar Samugia, they reviewed the untapped possibilities of agriculture in the cooperation between the two countries. This is based on the agricultural cooperation agreement signed in Tbilisi this May, which establishes cooperation in the fields of seed production and breeding, fruit and vegetable production, viticulture and honey production, he explained. The two heads of ministries also discussed cooperation in the installation of cold stores. István Nagy added that Hungarian companies with outstanding performance in the domestic agricultural sector are also ready to share their practical experience with Georgian farmers. The minister emphasized that there is also a serious opportunity for cooperation in seed production. Hungarian seed production and cultivation is one of the top achievements of domestic agriculture, as it produces goods worth almost 500 million euros every year. That is why it is possible to export high-quality seeds that meet the expectations of Georgian farmers in order to increase bilateral trade. And these seeds will be able to be further developed in accordance with local conditions and reach other eastern markets, added the head of the ministry. István Nagy highlighted that our country is committed to supporting Georgia’s European Union integration and that Hungary is ready to share its knowledge in order to join the community.
