Eggs should be rehabilitated
Eggs play an important role in the human diet for thousands of years. At the end of the last century, it has been linked to several diseases, such as arteriosclerosis, therefore many people started to avoid its consumption. However, on the basis of the latest results the earlier assumptions are worth to be considered and the eggs should be rehabilitated.
The domestic consumption of eggs apart from minor interruptions is steadily declining for the third decade. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) in the 80s Hungarians consumed close to 400 eggs, while in 2013 only 214 eggs per person a year. An average chicken egg weights 60 grams. An average chicken egg contains about 5.4 grams of protein and 4.8 grams of fat, which means 68 kcal, ie 286 kJ of energy is – of course all of this depends on the size of the egg.
Thus, the researchers say that egg consumption can be a healthy part of a balanced diet, it might even have some advantages – sums up the dietitian.
