Lidl donates more than HUF 100 million worth of food to Heim Pál Children’s Hospital
Lidl Magyarország has been supporting the Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute through its foundation for five years now. Recently the contract has been extended for another year and the donation value increased to gross HUF 8.5 million per month. This means that the discounter chain will make food donations worth more than HUF 100 million to the hospital until 31 May 2025.
“For our company social responsibility is one of the main priorities, especially in our sponsorship of Heim Pál Children’s Hospital. Through our donation programme, we want to provide children in recovery with fresh and healthy food rich in nutrients”, said Judit Tőzsér, head of company communication at Lidl Magyarország.
Whether it is baby food, fresh fruit and vegetables, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, pasta, rice, canned food or even soft drinks, the food list is compiled by the children’s hospital. So far the partnership has helped with around 240 tonnes of food since its launch in 2019.
“Improving how the public perceives hospital meals isn’t an easy task, especially when both parents and children compare it with the food at home. Through this collaboration, we are bringing back the taste of home, ensuring healthy food consumption during hospital stays, and creating a clear link between improved health and nutrition for children. We are grateful to Lidl for supporting our work for the sixth year in a row”, said Norbert Palócz, economic director of Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute in his thank you speech. (x)
