State Secretary TIM: engineers have a special role in the implementation of sustainable economic development
In achieving sustainable economic development and ensuring a healthy, livable environment, current and future engineers have a special role, and the government sees them as partners – stated the state secretary responsible for the environment and circular economy of the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) on Thursday in Pécs.
Anikó Raisz at the technical faculty of the University of Pécs drew attention to the Hungarian government’s sustainable development objectives and the importance of clean technologies at the opening of the all-day event entitled Cleantech – clean technologies in the name of sustainability. As he said, the aim of the government’s sustainability concept is for Hungary to be one of the five states in the EU where it is best to live, live and work by 2030, and in order to achieve this, the cabinet is particularly counting on the ideas of engineers and the innovations created with their help. According to the state secretary, the cabinet has supported it with its measures so far, and will continue to support innovation and high added value planning by strengthening the domestic training system, supporting businesses and attracting foreign capital to Hungary. The coordination of society, the economy and environmental protection is helped by numerous action plans and strategies, and their implementation is also accelerated by the energy crisis – he pointed out.
In her presentation, she indicated that the government still considers achieving climate neutrality by 2050 to be its goal
In order to do this, they extend the circular economy from users to the main economic actors, which also ensures the long-term competitiveness of businesses. Anikó Raisz announced: in order to achieve the goals set out in the Climate and Nature Protection Action Plan, the renovation of the waste management system and the establishment of sustainable operation of the water utility sector will continue. In the rest of the professional day organized jointly by the Technical and Informatics Faculty of PTE and the Baranya County Chamber of Engineers, lectures were given on the topics of hydrogen technologies, green construction and building materials industry, intelligent machine manufacturing, robotics, among other things, by key industrial and economic actors of the region, by experts and researchers working in the engineering field.
